Dr. Mansfield Edwards

Dr. Mansfield Edwards was born in the tropical paradise of Jamaica, the last of six children. From an early age, he embraced the motto, “Place no limits on yourself,” which is intrinsic to the biblical truth, “with God all things are possible”.

He pursued his graduate studies at the Northern Caribbean University, and post graduate studies at Loma Linda University, Andrews University, and the University of Montreal, Quebec.

Dr. Edwards worked in Jamaica as church pastor and adjunct professor in ethics and philosophy, School of Nursing, Northern Caribbean University.

In 1999, he accepted a call to the Quebec Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, where he served as pastor of the Westmount Church in Montreal, and columnist for the Caribbean Camera Newspaper with a focus on Lifestyle disease and Risk Reduction.

Pastor Edwards has always had a passion for community involvement and served as co-chair of the Montreal Black Ministers Executive exploring improvement for the marginalized.

In 2002, he accepted a call from the Ontario Conference of the Seventh-day Adventists to serve as senior pastor of the 1,200 member, Apple Creek Church in Markham. During his 7 year tenure, he founded the Discover the Power TV Program aired on Vision TV and Hope TV aired around the world via satellite.

2004 - He was appointed chaplain for York Regional Police and still serves in this capacity.

2005-2007 – He served as chaplain for the Association of Black Law Enforcers (ABLE), which is an organization of the black Police, court, customs and immigration officers in Ontario, Canada.

2007 – He was appointed to the executive committee of the Canadian Federation of InterCultural Friendship.

During the 32nd Constituency Meeting in 2009, Dr. Edwards was elected president of the Ontario Conference of Seventh-day Adventists; was re-elected in 2013, and again re-elected by vast majority of Ontario Conference delegates in 2017.

Dr. Edwards is married to Sharon for over 30 years. They have two sons, Craig and Matthew.
